Current mood: anxious
Curt is having his total knee replacement on June 1st. Ironic, since that is our 10 yr anniversary this year and also the date of his intital injury in Iraq. He has a whole long process he has to go thru leading up to the surgery date. He has to get an EKG, blood work, chest xrays, clearance from his physican and also clearance from dental. He has to attend a class on May 5th about the knee replacement. This is all being done in Bethesda at the National Naval Medical Center.

He will be an inpatient for 3-6 days and then he will come home and he will have at home care thru a staffing agency for the first couple weeks. Also physical therapy in home for the first month. He will be non weight bearing for at least the first month and the physician will decide when he can start bearing weight. No traveling or flying for 6-8 weeks. And the fastest recovery is 12 weeks. 12 weeks not being COMPLETELY recovered but at the starting point to getting there. Looks like we'll be having a long boring summer......

But he should be good come October when we have our other big event!
Wish us luck on this surgery. It seems like its gonna be alot of work and post care. Then we can start our return to a somewhat normal life!! And move on and start the process of the MMRB/MEB so we can see whats gonna happen with our Army career. Stay a scout or have to reclass or be medically retired. This is gonna be the nerve wracking part!!! To find out what are future holds. Hopefully we can start soon after his recovery from the knee replacement. His enlistment is up in Nov 2010, so we don't have that much longer! We're both nervous about it. I see us staying in, thats what we both hope for. If he can stay a scout he wants to go to Irwin for a few years to do a rotation there, then head back to Benning and work there. If he has to reclass we hope for MI (miltary intelligence) which would be a move to Arizona for a while while he trains then who knows from there. Our ultimate goal is to find our way back to Benning no matter what and retire in Columbus. :)
So its just nerve wracking because we have no idea what is going to happen to us or how long this process will take!

Curt started college as well last week. His classes start the first week of May I think it was. He is going for a bachelors in Homeland Security. I'm proud of him.
As soon as I can use his GI bill I am starting too, I am seriously looking at the Univ of Maryland right now. They have the program I want and its all online!!
