Life changes...and that's okay!

Wow, I haven't blogged for a  very long time. I'm gonna make this short and sweet, but wanted to update those who read my blog. So much has changed in two years.  I am back living in Iowa. I do miss Hawaii so much, but what can I do?!? Sadly, I couldn't stay there forever.  Curt is out of the army and we are now divorced.  A lot of different factors went into that decision, none that I wish to air to the public, but I wish him well and hope that he can turn his life around...right now it's not very good.  When you have someone who has a dependency to alcohol and that takes over your life, it's very sad to witness. That's all I will say about that.

Anyway, so here I am. Single for the first time in almost 17 years.  It's crazy.  I have not really dated yet, I'm not ready to.  A part of me says I am, but I know I'm not at that point yet.  I have my life to get in order and I have to focus on getting that on track before I attempt to bring someone new in my life. It's been a tough road and at times I really struggle to make sense of it all.  But I have faith that everything will be okay and the struggles I am facing now will be a thing of the past eventually.

I recently moved to a new house here in town, very close to my work, so with school getting out next Friday I will be able to walk to work this summer, which is so nice! I work for a local law firm in town and do love my job, which I know not many people can say so I am thankful for that.

I am also so thankful to be closer to family again.  It's so nice to be able to see my grandma (even though she is in a nursing home now and has Alzheimer's).  As long as she still recognizes me I am okay with her nonsense stories.  It's tough though, because I miss my grandma. My real grandma.  The one who was always in the kitchen baking something, the one who made elaborate meals every time someone was over, the one who read books and played games with the kids, the one who would walk and ride her bike all over town.  It's tough to see the downhill spiral that she has taken.  She talks about her mom and dad a lot.  She wonders why her mom doesn't come and visit her.  She talks about things like that so it can be hard sometimes.  But I just go with it and indulge her.

The kids are doing good.  Kaylie is finishing up 7th grade and Brandon is finishing up Kindergarten.  He plays Tball and I just signed him up for basketball and Kaylie is signed up to be part of the crew for the theater at school.  I'm glad to see Kaylie wanting to get involved in something.  I can't believe she will be starting her last year of middle school this fall! Time sure does fly.

No big plans this summer.  I plan to do a lot of tubing on the weekends and having fun at our whitewater park (which is an absolute blast).  Other than that, I will be working and enjoying the time with my kids.
